Happy springtime, friends!

Dallas had its first 100 degree day so I’m hoping spring holds out for us just a little longer. But the birds are full of chatter and the flowers are glorious and for all of this and more, I give thanks.

I am not the only one who found social media unexpectedly delightful during the all too brief papal conclave. Ah, social media. It’s always the wit that makes me stay.

Someone who knows how much I enjoyed Knives Out told me The Residence on Netflix was “Knives Out-adjacent” and I am here to tell you that is correct. It is fun and funny and entertaining and while I realize Cordelia Cupp would likely not want to be friends with me, I find her to be the coolest.

Speaking of Cordelia Cupp, allow me to introduce you to the Merlin bird app. Brought to you by the wonderful people at Cornell University’s Ornithology Lab, this app lets you identify all the birds you see or hear. My bird friend Brian introduced it to me and it has brought me countless moments of delight. Brian suggested I take it around the neighborhood with me and soon I’d know most of the birds in my area. So now I walk around like, “Good morning, blue jay!” “Hey there Carolina wren!” “Hey you little tufted titmouse precious pumpkin baby girl!” I’m sure the neighbors love it. But Cordelia Cupp would be so proud.

It’s a rare summer when I’m not binging on Haim songs, and just in time, the sister trio has offered yet another track for my sunny listening. “Relationships” is catchy in their usual style and also a little funny (“I think I’m in love but I can’t stand f*&%ing relationships”). The whole album drops on June 20th so don’t act surprised if they show up again on this list in July.
