Dabhar Digest: April
In this season of Eastertide, I am grateful for all that is budding and new, all that is growing from the compost of death and old life. Here are a few things that are bringing me joy, keeping me occupied, and giving me purpose.
BOOK
OK in all fairness I read this months ago, but it is just a perfect escape novel for this moment. There are talking cats. Need I say more?! You will laugh. You will be entertained. You will want to finish it in mere days. It is wonderfully ridiculous.
(Also, if you are unfamiliar with John Scalzi and if you enjoy sci-fi, I highly suggest you RUN to read Redshirts.)
APP
I am writing, emailing, and/or calling every day about something, because there is so much happening that requires attention and resistance. It’s hard to keep up. I downloaded the 5calls app and it just simplifies things when it’s a call that is needed. They provide a script and generally make it super easy to make your voice heard.
UHH…CROWS?

Some of you may know that we have a feral cat colony in our neighborhood. We feed them. We sometimes also get possum and raccoon late night visitors. Reader, we love them. Some of the neighbors hate us for this. Whatever, we will St. Francis away.
Lately, a few crows have also been coming around. This has delighted me. I know someone who has a murder of crows that he considers his legitimate friends now. They bring him shiny things. They greet him every morning. I am jealous of this in the best way.
I have been attempting to befriend the crows, leaving food on our fence for them, talking to them. It is not going well. They seem uninterested in bringing me any shiny thing, ever, or even sticking around for a chat. Nevertheless I will persist. And I will keep you posted.
and lastly… A NEW NONPROFIT!
For over a year, I’ve been writing, creating, and working hard to launch Via Forma, a nonprofit that creates spiritual formation resources. It will be launching next week! For now, you can subscribe to Via Forma’s Substack where I’ll be doing videos to talk about all of the resources offered and other good stuff. Stay tuned!
